This course has been designed to include both class work and field practice in equal proportion to give students a realistic understanding of the issues in rural development as well as practical alternatives for intervention. The first batch was started in 2001 and since then the programme is held every year.

v Participatory rural appraisal

v Self help groups and micro finance

v Project formulation

v Accounts keeping

v Computer use

The course faculty includes professors from Lucknow University, subject specialists, NABARD officials and Manavodaya staff.

After hearing the students and assessing their knowledge, a professor in sociology from Lucknow University remarked, "You have achieved in six months what we could not do in two years time."
