The director, Mr. Varun Vidyarthi, has a multi disciplinary background in engineering, management and development studies. He abandoned a lucrative career in industry and has been working on participatory development issues in rural India for the last twenty years. He has occupied Visiting Faculty positions at the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex, and the East West Centre, Hawaii, and has lectured in different universities and institutions across the world. He has also extensively toured in rural South Asia for studies and meetings with practitioners of people-based development.

Practical field based concepts and issues are handled by Dr. Amla Vidyarthi, a doctorate in Chemistry. She teamed up with Varun 20 years back and holds independent change of field operations. She has worked as consultant for ITDG, London and the Ministry of Rural Development in the Government. She coordinates special programmes like training and field guidance to bankers.
